Sandwich Saturday
3:00-4:00 pm

One Saturday each month, members of all ages gather to make hundreds of bag lunches for City Harvest, which delivers them to the homeless, homebound and hungry. Most of the food is provided through a generous grant from a Shaaray Tefila family, but each volunteer over the age of 10 is asked to bring:
- Three large loaves of sliced sandwich bread
- 18 pieces of ripe fruit (oranges, pears, bananas)
Children age 10 and up make sandwiches; younger children may move trays of food and help decorate and fill the bags.
To foster community, various student, adult and family groups are encouraged to attend specific Sandwich Saturdays -- but everyone is welcome to participate on any date throughout the year! This is a wonderful family activity for a
Shabbat afternoon, and we conclude with the
Havdalah service that marks the end of
Shabbat.
