Kesher Program
September 7, 2012 for Rosh HaShanah packages
December 7, 2012 for Chanukah packages
March 15, 2013 for Pesach packages
The Hebrew word
kesher means connection or bond, and our
Kesher program tries to make a connection between Shaaray Tefila members and Jewish homebound seniors in our neighborhood by delivering holiday packages and establishing personal relationships.
Three times each year, holiday packages are prepared by congregants of all ages, in assembly-line fashion, following
Kabbalat Shabbat services. Then, volunteers pick up the packages and deliver them to the elderly in time for the upcoming holiday (
Rosh HaShanah,
Chanukah and
Pesach). Volunteers are encouraged not only to deliver the packages, but to stay and chat, bringing a little companionship and a Shaaray Tefila connection to the homebound. High school students and adults are encouraged to participate. Please contact
HGMD@aol.com if you know someone in our area who could benefit from a
Kesher delivery.
