What is Rosh Chodesh?
This program is an exciting program based on the Jewish tradition of women’s New Moon celebrations to build self-esteem, Jewish identity, leadership skills, and friendship networks of adolescent girls. Our program has been shaped to fit the needs of our girls at Shaaray Tefila. Girls meet a Sunday afternoons following Religious School for lunch and engaging and social programmatic session in a supportive environment.
Our Rosh Chodesh program will be facilitated by Lori Jacobson. Lori Jacobson was born and raised in Rochester, NY, spending 12 summers at Camp Seneca Lake in upstate New York. Lori graduated from Hofstra University with a degree in family studies in 2004 and continued her studies at Columbia University where she received her masters in social work in 2006. Lori is a licensed social worker. She is continuing her education at the Ackerman to become a couples and family therapist. Lori has spent many working at several different synagogues in Long Island, Queens and Manhattan working with youth from kindergarten through high school. In her spare time, she enjoys scrap booking, sailing, traveling and making chocolate chip cookies.
