Yorkville Common Pantry
We collect donations of non-perishable food each month to support the YCP's efforts to feed the hungry in our neighborhood.
Shaaray Tefila is a founding sponsor of YCP, located at 8 East 109th Street. YCP is the largest neighborhood-based non-residential provider of emergency food in the city. Founded in 1980 by a coalition of East Side churches and synagogues, every week YCP provides emergency food on a 24/7 basis; serves hot meals; distributes groceries to needy families; operates a weekend food pantry for low-income families; and provides homeless men and women with clothing, shower and laundry facilities, a mail center and psychiatric care.
Check the monthly Messenger and weekly eNews for specific food items needed each month, and drop them off in the YCP bin in the Temple lobby. Or, bring any of the following at any time: cereal, peanut butter, tuna, boxes of shelf-stable low-fat milk (Parmalat), dry or canned beans, and canned vegetables or fruits (in extra light or no syrup).
