Our Israel Engagement Committee

Join the Shaaray Tefila Israel Engagement Committee!

The Israel Engagement Committee encourages and promotes congregational involvement with Israel as a means of expressing our Jewish heritage and identity and supporting the State of Israel as a safe and secure Jewish State.

We do this by . . .

  • Encouraging and training congregants to be informed and effective advocates for Israel's right to exist as a safe and secure Jewish State;
  • Promoting activities that enhance the congregation's new partnership with Kehilat Ohel Avraham in Haifa;
  • Supporting Progressive Judaism in Israel;
  • Coordinating activities with other congregations; and
  • Planning Israel-focused programs and events at Shaaray Tefila

We welcome new members and hope that you will join us.

For more information on the Israel Engagement Committee, please contact the Chair, Ted Greenwood, at administration@tstnyc.org.

The Assault on Israel's Legitimacy: Challenges and Opportunities
David Dabscheck, Israel Action Network
Monday, March 5, 2012 at 7:30 pm

Israel today faces an intensive and increasingly sophisticated assault on its right to exist as a sovereign democratic Jewish state. Attacks on Israel’s legitimacy are implicit in the BDS Movement – Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions. Who is advancing this discourse, how are they doing it, and which audiences are receptive to their messages? Learn how we can counter these attacks and try to change the conversation about Israel to achieve peace and security for two states for two peoples.
Dabscheck is Deputy Managing Director of the Israel Action Network (IAN), a new initiative launched by Jewish Federations of North America and the Jewish Public Affairs Committee. IAN’s goal is combating anti-Israel boycott, divestment and sanctions campaigns. Dabscheck’s writings on Israel have appeared in the Jerusalem Post, Foreign Policy and the Forward, and he was recently named one of Jewish Week’s “36 Under 36” young leaders innovatively shaping the Jewish community.
